Being the Jack of all trades that Guy Ramsay Fieri is, you expect the man to always operate on a tight schedule, and indeed he does. Fieri is a chef, restaurateur, author, and TV personality who has even won multiple awards, an Emmy included.
According to the man himself, much of his success is due to the relationship he has with two cogs in his well-oiled machine; his attorney and his accountant.
The restaurateur advises that you should cultivate a great relationship with lawyers before you REALLY have to, and as for your accountant, make sure you understand how they manage your finances.
Being successful almost always means packed days each week, and prior planning is what helps Fieri navigate through such busy times.
At Knuckle Sandwich, his company, they ensure that by 5 o’clock daily, the following day’s agenda is already in place. This goes down to the tiniest of details, including the phone number of that day’s driver.
As the TV personality explains it, this practice (which they refer to as The Lock) ensures that everyone in the company is operating on the same wavelength, and most important of all, it avoids time-wasting. After all, isn’t time one of the most precious commodities of a busy man?
Additionally, Fieri feels that The Lock is also about cultivating trust. Everyone is kept in the loop about everything, and there are no secrets at Knuckle Sandwich.
Creating a comfortable working environment for his members of staff, he reveals, ensures that they work towards the company’s vision.
Thus far, it seems as though Fieri is a firm believer of teamwork, and it turns out to be exactly the case, the celebrity chef admits as much.
Having first been a chef before he got to running a mammoth company, he experienced firsthand the importance of working together.
There was no way he could run his kitchen without everyone’s collective energy. As such, Knuckle Sandwich is just but an extra-large kitchen for him.
A Deep Sense of Trust
To ensure that no entity in the mammoth chain messes up, Fieri says that he ensures everyone understands the role they play perfectly. And how does he do this, you ask?
He makes sure they learn, through vigorous training first, then leaves them to perform as they’ve been tasked. Do you feel a sense of trust here? He actually describes it as letting someone pack your parachute in your stead.
And in as much as this team’s leader cherishes running things, he has also learned the importance of taking time for himself and his family.
Spending time with his wife and kids, along with his parents helps him blow off some steam, before he eventually has to be all over the place again.
Wouldn’t you love to master the art of balancing all entities in your life? Guy Fieri does this seamlessly, but it is undoubtedly a skill he has honed over time.
He is as reliant on his team as they are to him, and when everyone plays their part, nothing hardly ever goes wrong.
