Before Netflix made a name for itself, not that many a movie star would agree to take part in a web series. Enter the streaming platform, and this stand became a tale of old.
Netflix has made quite the moves in the industry that we no longer think of the content on its platform as web movies or series. Aren’t they just regular shows and films?
Much of the current landscape is thanks to Netflix not holding back when it comes to budget. When they go out looking for top talent, they fork out as much as it takes to land them. This, in turn, is such great news for these actors and actresses. Who could turn down a hefty paycheck?
Best believe that the tactics Netflix uses to convince these stars to come aboard work, given that they’ve even managed to bring Eddie Murphy back to standup comedy.
Word on the street is that they’re offering him a $70 million deal for an undisclosed number of specials, and isn’t that something to look out for?
While the legendary comedian and actor’s deal is still cooking, there are some celebrities who’ve already enjoyed massive paydays from Netflix.
Take Ben Affleck for example. The former Dark Knight earned $8 million for his exploits on Triple Frontier, starring alongside Oscar Isaac.
And if $8 million is something, what would we call $20 million? This is what the Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot will take home for lending her talents to Red Notice, an upcoming Netflix action movie. With her performances on Wonder Woman and Justice League, who’s to say Gal Gadot won’t deliver?
These days, it seems as though The Rock is anywhere and everywhere. However, his appearance in numerous movies and TV shows as either actor or producer is all part of a bigger plan.
Dwayne Johnson is building an empire, and it won’t be long till he conquers the film industry, if he hasn’t already.
Thankfully, Netflix is here to further his agenda, having brought him on the Red Notice project as a producer. As such, he is poised to earn significantly more than the $20 million-Gal Gadot will earn, seeing that he is also set to appear in the movie itself.
Anything for Financial Gain
Will Smith’s talent as an actor is undeniable. The I Am Legend actor starred in Bright, a flick that was financially successful for Netflix, despite not receiving the best of reviews.
That notwithstanding, the streaming platform is determined to see Smith star in Bright 2, offering him $35 million for his efforts.
Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds hasn’t been left out on Netflix’s deep pockets and generosity. He’ll also star in Red Notice alongside Gal Gadot and The Rock, taking home $20 million while at it. The actor is also poised to be in Six Underground, a movie from which he’ll earn $27 million.
And although these stars have earned big thanks to Netflix, no one comes close to Adam Sandler’s payday. Having been already in a multi-movie deal with the platform, Sandler renegotiated the terms of his contract to $250 million to star in four movies. Wicked!
