What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when we mention the name of Kanye West? The man is quite talented at what he does, be it business or music, but he attracts almost as much attention when he isn’t selling albums or shoes.
The man has been embroiled in many scandals, from his marriage to Kim Kardashian to various uncalled-for antics to controversial political views, and many other stunts he pulls on the daily to ensure that he remains relevant to his fans in a constantly-changing industry.
His net worth is also quite admirable, and his moves as an entrepreneur are a true testament to his brilliance.
A few years back, Kanye announced that he had partnered with Adidas to promote the firm’s sportswear products. The partnership has been a successful one throughout the years, a sentiment that the firm’s CEO echoes, despite the rapper being in the headlines for all the wrong reasons time and again.
According to Kasper Rorsted, he never spends a minute worrying about what Kanye will tweet next, or what his views on contemporary issues are. The CEO believes that the father of four is one of the firm’s greatest additions to their celebrity portfolio.
Speaking to CNBC, Rorsted said that Adidas knew what they were signing up for when they brought Kanye West on board. Having met and interacted with him numerous times, the CEO confirms that the rapper is brilliant, referring to him as quite the creative force.
He went on to say that Kanye never shies away from fielding his opinions and that Adidas doesn’t always take the rapper’s stand. What’s for sure, Rorsted says, is that Kanye’s relationship with Adidas had been great, and everyone on either side is happy about it.
Last year, Kanye created a lot of buzz after he endorsed President Trump. In true Kanye West fashion, the artiste went on for over thirty minutes rambling about different topics during an Oval Office visit, ranging from his mental health issues to political views.
He even dressed the part, having a hat bearing Trump’s 2016 campaign slogan. Guess what he said he felt when he put the hat on? Kanye felt like the hero in the fictitious Metropolis – Superman.
And although of late Kanye has put a lid on his political opinions, he did put up a tweet in support of the current POTUS at the beginning of the year.
Are you ready for Kanye’s stand on slavery? You can even begin to fathom the uproar that his sentiments caused. In the rapper’s opinion, slavery was more of a choice than an inhumane situation millions were forced into.
Knowing black history, you can understand how big a controversy this was. The fact that the man is African-American made it even worse. How could he?
The Firm Wins
Either way, no one at Adidas is loving sleep over Kanye. According to the company’s CEO, having him as part of their team has benefited the firm in more than just the United States market, revealing that the partnership has boosted sales in Russia, China, and Latin America.
In March, the company brought on Beyoncé, and her addition to the team is expected to be as successful as Kanye’s.
