Wendy Williams has not been having a good week, month, or year. 2019 has been really tough for her to say the least. The talk show host has been in the middle of a divorce with her long life partner, who allegedly fathered a child with another woman.
The 55-year-old successfully filed for divorce in April after the cheating scandal broke, leaving Kevin and his mistress nowhere to hide.
Many know Wendy as the host of The Wendy Williams Show, which is brought alive by her very distinctive personality. She is not afraid to speak her mind and engage the audience in Hot Topics.
On Thursday, she got so emotional while closing out season 10 of the popular talk show that she had to wrap up the season in tears. Williams said the season had been ‘hell’ for her amid personal struggles.
Her Marriage Hit Rock Bottom
This can be expected since the couple had been married for a very long time before the two decided to split. She was married to Kevin Hunter for over two decades and no one had ever thought that the two would ever split. And after all, divorces can get messy, painful and so dramatic despite the years of love the couples shared together.
Williams takes so much pride in her work. The host describes the show as the one place where she gets to disappear from her troubles and have more fun.
According to her, The Wendy Williams Show and her fans are her joy. She explains that despite what people read in tabloids and get from the paparazzi about her, she finds happiness in her show, family and son.
Williams did not appear on the show from January to 4th March, on account of her struggles with Graves’ disease and a fractured shoulder. The host assured her audience that even though she may not run the show forever, she was definitely going to be back for the 11th season.
After she returned on the show, she reported that she was doing better and had been taking some time to recover with her son, Kevin Jr. and her husband. At the time, she denied any kind of marital problems in her marriage and described Hunter, as her ‘lover’ and ‘best friend’.
Two weeks after her return, Williams announced on-air that she was residing in a sober house, having struggled with a serious drug addiction in her past. Then, the following month, she finally decided to file for divorce.
She cut all professional ties with her ex, including dissolving The Hunter Foundation, which they both started in 2014 and Hunter was also demoted as executive producer of The Wendy Williams Show.
Hunter supposedly fathered a baby with his mistress, which he remained awfully silent about for a while. He later confessed of his guilt and regret for his actions to PEOPLE.
He claimed that he was currently going through a period of self-reflection and he would continue to support his wife in all her professional and personal endeavors. According to him, they would still remain The Hunter Family, come what may.
On the other hand, Williams has moved on and even joked on her show about dating a doctor who has been married before, with kids in their 20s. She also made sure to point out that he is black.
