Oprah Winfrey’s real estate portfolio is quite impressive, to say the least, and the media executive isn’t anywhere close to being done. She just recently acquired another piece of property, and do you want to guess where it is located? Montecito, California.
If the first thing that has come to mind was that, “wait; isn’t that where she currently resides?”, then you’re updated on most things Oprah. Turns out that her latest acquisition is a 4-acre ranch that is next to her famous 42-acre estate, the Promised Land.
The property’s previous owner happens to be another celebrity, actor and producer Jeff Bridges. The 69-year-old is now around $6.85 million richer (less taxes, of course) as this is the amount Oprah reportedly paid to get the ranch off his hands.
On Sale for Months
The ranch has been up for sale for most of 2019, with the actor having listed it in April for approximately $8 million. As you can see, the media mogul paid a little bit less – could it have been a discount or did Bridges decide that he couldn’t get a buyer at his initial asking price and decided to lower it?
We may never know, but as Bridges is smiling all the way to the bank, Oprah has her third ranch in Montecito. Back in 2011, she made headlines when she acquired the Promised Land for $50 million, and she did so again in 2015 when she bought the Seamair Farm for $29 million.
The ranch’s main house is apparently the handiwork of one James Osborne Craig who was a famed architect in Montecito back in the day. He put this building up in 1919, and that it is still in perfect condition to this day is a true testament to his work, don’t you agree?
For any ranch, you expect to see several structures spread out across the entire space, and Oprah’s newest acquisition isn’t any different. In addition to the main house, there’s a separate guest house boasting two bedrooms, a pool house, a swimming pool (obviously), and a carriage house with a five-horse stable.
Going by the property’s official listing, it offers magnificent, call it stunning if you like, mountain and ocean views. Having just lived next to the ranch, Oprah definitely knew all about the views having enjoyed them over the years since acquiring her first Montecito property.
Back to the listing, it went on to explain that the main house has a lavish hallway leading you to a gracious family room, and the same adjective was used for the living and dining rooms. For something to catch Oprah’s eye, it has to be really something, right?
Her purchases over the years have been to-die-for. Remember back in 2003 when she snatched up two properties in Hawaii? They were on the island of Maui, and since then, she has seemed to have an unending romance with the island.
O Magazine reports that she currently holds pieces of property worth well over $40 million on the island, totaling to a combined 163 acres. Listing everything the multi-billionaire owns would have us here all day, but the point is home, right?
