On the 3rd of August, 2018, Dollywood officially revealed Wildwood Grove, its largest expansion for the coming year. Sources claim that the Wildwood Grove will have about eleven new experiences expected to be very family friendly. New rides will be a part of the new experiences.
A Tennessee travel guide highlighted that an edifice known as Wildwood Tree will be mounted in the Grove. The Wildwood tree is allegedly 55-foot tall and will have brightly colored leaves and butterflies decorations.
Each night, this tree will expectedly be lit up to give it a fascinating glow. Lights and lanterns will glow at night and all that will combine to give the Grove a special theme. The area is envisaged to be a magical one for every visiting family offering them exciting experiences. The park also announced that the whole area would contain beautiful and distinctive rides for different families to enjoy.
As earlier mentioned, six different rides will be added to the Wildwood Grove. The first ride is known as the Mad Mocking Bird. This ride derives its name from the state’s (Tennessee) bird. The Mad Mocking Bird will take riders on a jolly ride all around a massive tree at top speed. However, the riders will have the speed level totally within their control.
The second ride is the Treetop Tower. While on this ride, riders are sure to get a good view of the whole of Wildwood Grove as it spins around the top of a tree. The third ride is the Black Bear Trail. This ride is expected to give riders a scenic tour of the Wildwood Grove. Sycamore Swing is the fourth ride and is a boat ride that makes one get the feeling of being on a giant leaf ride. Frogs and Fireflies is also another new ride for the visiting families to enjoy. The last ride is the Dragon Flier. It is a roller coaster deemed to be very family friendly.
In addition to the outdoor rides, there will be an indoor play section. The play area will be called Hidden Hollow and will feature slides, suspended bridges, net towers, crawls and a special area for toddlers. This area is 4,000 square feet indoors and has for exploration a climbing structure which is climate-controlled.
There will also be a water play section known as Wildwood Creek that will have splash pools among other features. The welcome oasis will have splashing pools, pop jets and a lot of wet play actions. The dry play section at the Creek will also have “music instruments”. In addition, a new restaurant will be opened. The restaurant will feature southwest-fresh and southern-inspired food items. Dollywood is yet to reveal the menu and other details for the restaurant.
The cost of this expansion reportedly costs nearly $37 million. Of that sum, roughly $1 million is for the park’s landscaping. That reportedly includes costs of a thousand shrubs and 400 trees. Reports indicate that Wildwood Grove is the biggest ever capital investment of Dollywood. It is also the first area to be added there since the 2008 Wilderness Pass.
The passes for next year are already available on pre-sale. Dollywood is reportedly putting out an exclusive deal offer for those who pre-purchase the 2019 pass. The deal is simply to put in the current rate for this season together with an exclusive plan for 9 months. That implies paying as little as 14 dollars each month to get a Regular Season pass for the coming year and also three free tickets to bring a friend, i.e. one of the tickets for Smoky Mountain Christmas for this year and the other tickets for the next season. This exclusive deal is reportedly available to those who directly signup on Dollywood’s website.
