Remember The Office? That sitcom was really something, huh. And over the nine seasons it ran, it sure did give us multiple laughs along the way.
Who was your favorite character? For me, that changed season after season, but Jim Halpert, played by John Krasinski, featured on that list severally.
The actor did quite a good job, and The Office remains the production for which he is best known.
Krasinski graduated from Brown in 2001, and the actor was recently back to his alma mater tasked with the Baccalaureate address for the 2019 Class.
In his speech, he admitted to many people often asking him what prompted his acting career. And as he revealed, he never specifically got into acting. He was doing anything and everything at first.
This trial and error move led him to join a comedy sketch group in college, and Krasinski said that this is what changed his life. And he doesn’t mean that in terms of how it got him into acting.
For him, it is because of the people he met while there, people who he says inspired him in more ways than one. He then found himself drawn completely in, and his subsequent career paints an accurate picture of the firm base he got while in college.
He urged the students to find something to believe in, and also to take a chance on love. He actually asked them to fall in love over and over, until that time when it felt just right.
Concluding his speech, he told them that before they could do something really special, they had to get started somewhere. The point was for them to always be doing something, and they’ll eventually transform it into something special.
The Class of 2019 better heed Krasinski’s advice since he is the very definition of “been there, done that.” And he has done it quite successfully.
In 2018, the actor featured in Time’s most influential people list, and that’s quite the enviable accolade! Krasinski has also won two SAG Awards, and has been nominated four times for the Emmy Award.
Krasinski’s career hasn’t been all acting. While on The Office, he was the show’s producer and occasionally directed some of its episodes.
His debut as a director was on Brief Interviews with Hideous Men, a comedy-drama he also wrote and produced. Talk of being a Jack of all trades! Luckily, the man is a master of them all.
The filmmaker’s personal life is also going as well as his career. Krasinski has been with Emily Blunt since late 2008, and the two got engaged in August the following year.
A year later, the couple tied the knot in Italy, in a private ceremony. Their union is blessed with two daughters, with first-born Hazel having been born in early 2014. Violet came two years later, in mid-2016.
Krasinski is an ardent sports lover and supports NHL’s Boston Bruins, MLB’s Boston Red Sox, and NFL’s New England Patriots.
