Mandy Moore has it all – acting, songwriting, singing, mountaineering, everything you could ever wish for. Of late she has been big on travel, and if you thought summiting Kilimanjaro was at the heart of it all, wait till you hear that she trekked to Everest’s Base Camp.
Not Just Any Pilot
The celebrity has been pretty vocal about her endeavors, and this time around her big reveal has been quite personal. Moore took to Instagram to share a host of images of herself and a pilot in a plane’s cockpit. However, this wasn’t just any other pilot. It was actually her dad cruising the skies alongside his daughter!
Funny thing was, at 35 years of age, it was Moore’s first time visiting her dad’s workplace. Couldn’t be you, right? Who wasn’t excited when their dad told them that they could go see where he got all that dough from?
Going with the “better late than never” idiom, the actress couldn’t have chosen a better time to visit her dad. She was in time to commemorate his 40th year with the airline (American Airlines), and she couldn’t hide how proud she was of him.
Holding down a job for four decades is no small feat! And when you’re a pilot, four decades in the air means that you’ve been responsible for millions of lives, and you’ve flown then safely every single time.
It was quite the family affair because guess who else was on the plane for the father-daughter moment? Mandy’s stepmom. Don’t worry, they’re all in good terms, and the actress shared a sentimental moment at the cockpit with her too.
She has been with the airline for close to three decades as a flight attendant, and just so happened to be on the same exact plane. Coincidence?
Given the experience Mandy’s dad has accumulated over the years, it was only natural to expect that there would be no mishaps on the flight. Meeting expectations, Mandy Moore revealed that the flight was all good, and the landing even better.
More Like Family
It was overall a great experience for the Moore family, so much so that the airline itself couldn’t help but be proud of the great man.
Speaking to USA Today, American Airline’s spokesman Ross Feinstein said that Donald (Mandy’s dad) was more like family than an employee to them, and also recognized Mandy’s stepmom for her services thus far.
As you may have very well guessed, the LA bound flight (from London) was also the first time Mandy had been on a plane flown by her dad, and you bet she loved the experience. She must have felt like she was twelve again, don’t you think?
For all the years she’s been in the game, Mandy has tried and succeeded in many things, but fashion proved not to be her thing. Back in 2005, the singer cum actress started a fashion line dubbed Mblem, a brand she hoped would hit it off with her target market.
Unfortunately, she had to close up shop just a few years later, saying that she hoped for a possible return into the fashion industry.
