You see how the popular John Wick always makes his hit list; the insanely talented Keanu Reeves can’t quit doing it either. Hollywood is captivated by this guy, but that is expected considering the many projects he has been involved in. Guess who else is smitten over the actor. Our beloved Marvel Studios.
Marvel Studios Considers Keanu Reeves
Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel studios, just confessed to us that he’s had chats with Reeves, concerning him joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Wouldn’t that be awesome?
Feige claimed that they reach out to the actor in nearly every film they make. He wants the ground-breaking actor to join the Universe in the right way, whenever or if he does.
It’s amazing that Marvel loves Reeves just as much as we do. It seems like they truly want him to be a part of the Marvel family. But according to what Feige said to Comicbook.com, he is so keen on doing it right.
He, later on, compared the pursuit for Reeves to that of Jake Gyllenhaal, whom he really wanted to join MCU, but desperate to doing right. He later got the perfect fit in the role of Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
This actually isn’t the first time we are hearing about a connection between Keanu Reeves and the MCU. Jude Law only got the role of Yon-Rogg in Captain Marvel because Reeves dropped out.
He was the first choice for the role but had to let it go when the filming schedule conflicted with John Wick 3. And boy are we glad he made the second sequel. But we would have loved him in the Marvel Universe too.
It’s Possibly Going to Be “The Eternals”
A few weeks ago, rumors surfaced of Reeves possibly being in the cast of “The Eternals” in conjunction with Kumail Nanjiani, Richard Madden, and Angelina Jolie. The actor has also been very vocal about his fascination in the next Wolverine role.
In light of Kevin Feige’s remarks, Reeve’s involvement in the “The Eternals” is very much possible now. That is if he can provisionally arrange it between his other ventures.
The actor is already engaged in a couple of other projects. He is set to appear in two films including John Wick: Chapter 4 scheduled for production in 2021, and Bill and Ted Face the Music in 2020.
The release, as well as filming date of “The Eternals”, is still unknown, so it is impossible to tell if Reeves can actually fit it in his schedule. However, it seems to be farther along in the growth phase. He would be the best choice for Wolverine though, if “The Eternals” turns out not to be his place.
Feige currently has the right to include the X-Men to his Marvel Universe list. There are a lot of uncertainties in the MCU since Dark Phoenix flopped and Disney may want to wait before indulging with the franchise. By the end of the summer, Marvel Universe fans might just get to know what’s next.
For now, Keanu Reeves enthusiasts can get their satisfaction from some of his other current films like Toy Story 4 as Duke Caboom, John Wick: Chapter 3, or Always Be My Maybe.
