A Friends reunion would be more exciting for sure. But for now, all fans get is revisiting the most iconic spaces of the insanely popular sitcom.
The Wonder Friends Is
Can you believe it’s been 25 years since Friends first premiered on television? Most people still watch and rewatch it to this day as if the show were still running.
Friends premiered in September 1994, with the storyline revolving around six close friends who won over the hearts of many viewers almost immediately. So much that 25 years later we are still talking, writing and, laughing about it.
Social media sites are awash with numerous accounts dedicated to memes and news about the sitcom and the actors.
Now, Friends fanatics get to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the show with a massive interactive pop-up experience coming soon to New York.
Considering how phenomenal the sitcom has become, it’s only fair that Warner Bros. decided to shower the fans with a pop-up. One thing for sure is that the event will be filled with people of all ages.
A whole new generation has been watching the sitcom since it’s farewell, most of whom were not alive when the show premiered in 1994 or even when it ended in 2004.
A Friends Pop-Up Is Coming Your Way
In a press release, Warner Bros. explained that the pop-up will include the famous Central Perk coffee shop with its iconic orange couch, replicas of the two apartments where Joey, Chandler, Monica, and Rachel lived, and the fountain featured in the opening credits of the show.
Like that isn’t already exciting enough, fans will get to recreate some of the legendary scenes and post pictures on their social media pages.
Some of these scenes will include the famous ‘pivot’ scene, where fans will carry a sofa up a narrow flight of stairs just like Ross did in the sitcom. Fans can also snap photos with a turkey on their heads just like Joey in ‘The One With All The Thanksgivings.’
On top of that, they may also get to peek through Monica’s and Rachel’s door and kick back in Chandler’s and Joey’s recliner chairs. How we wish they get a duck and a chick too.
SVP at Warner Bros., Peter van Roden, claimed that they intended to pay homage to the iconic sets, an incredible cast of characters, and unforgettable moments. The pop-up will be located in the SoHo neighborhood of Manhattan.
Fans get to purchase their tickets from 2nd of August, and the experience will span from 7th September to 6th October.
Those who might not be able to buy tickets can celebrate the anniversary through the GIF channel which Warner Bros. will be setting up with Giphy. It will include a massive 2,300 GIFs from each episode of the entire sitcom.
Evidently, Pottery Barn also established a Friends-motivated furniture line, where fans can purchase the most iconic pieces of furniture featured in the sitcom.
