When it comes to churning out new devices, Apple does not disappoint. And while the iPhone and Mac devices may be pretty common, not all products by the company are affordable to the average American.
Their latest Mac Pro release happens to be one of these devices, with the base model starting at $6,000. If you want a high-performance machine with over-the-top specifications though, be ready to part with over $52,000.
Doesn’t Elon Musk’s new Cybertruck fall within this price range? This seriously gets you thinking which of the two is a better invention. But given the epic fail of the Cybertruck launch, most people would be inclined to lean Apple’s way.
Not for the Average User
Truth be told, the Mac Pro is way too expensive than the average personal computer. But according to Gartner’s senior research director Ranjit Atwal, this is because the machine is not meant for the average PC user. For such an amount, the director says, you can’t expect the device to be a normal PC, can you?
Announced in June, the Mac Pro was finally launched on 10th December. Based on its impressive specs, the machine is designed for businesses and professionals who have to manage heavy amounts of workflow such as developing video games and apps, data processing on a large scale, film editing, music production, and networking infrastructure.
This PC runs on an Intel© Xeon© W Processor whose chips have been enhanced for impressive tasks such as developing AI programs, 3D rendering, and running 3D computer-aided design software, no matter its level of complexity.
The $6,000 model boasts a hard disk drive of 256GB, AMD Radeon™ Pro 580X graphics complete with an 8GB memory, and an 8-core processor with an impressive 32GB memory. For a machine to use at home, what more could you ask for?
Blow Your Mind
And while these specs may be undoubtedly impressive, it is the expensive version that will blow your mind. The processor is way faster than the one in the Mac Pro base model, this one being a 28-core central processor, with a 1.5TB memory to boot.
As for the graphics, this machine rocks 2 AMD Radeon™ Pro Vega II GPUs, and to say that its massive 4TB storage is overly impressive would be a huge understatement.
To revamp the computer further, you can choose to have the Apple Afterburn card installed, but this will cost you an additional $2,000. But if you want your machine to seamlessly stream three RAW 8K content simultaneously, then why not? You can also choose to have wheels added to your CPU, for which you’ll have to pay an extra $400.
According to Atwal, this high-end Mac Pro is more than just a computer. As he puts it, it is an entire infrastructure on its own. In fact, he says it could even be a data center, and a portable one at that. Talk of Apple revolutionizing the tech world!
Another research director, Jeff Fieldhack, this one being from Counterpoint Research says that the Mac Pro is perfect for hardcore gamers. Being a high-end performance computer, gaming junkies would instantly fall in love with it.
This new Mac Pro is the first of this model the company has released since 2013, a release that fans didn’t appreciate that much. Although the machine had great specs, its cylindrical shape was the source of trolls left, right, and center. The company even admitted to the model being an epic fail. With this latest one though, no one will be trolling Apple any time soon.
