Hollywood star John Travolta and wife, actress Kelly Preston, has finally bid farewell to their 2.35-acre estate in Brentwood after almost 23 years of owning it. The couple was able to sell the property for $18 million, a far cry from the $3.7 million that they originally paid for it.
Since their purchase in 1997, Travolta and Preston have made significant changes to the 1949-built mansion.
From the original 6 bedrooms and 9-and-a-half bathrooms, they invested in renovations to bring the total to 10 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms spread throughout 9,100 square feet of living space. This includes four master suites.
The estate was bought by music executive Scooter Braun from Travolta and Preston through a deal off the market.
The 38-year-old record executive and talent manager gained prominence for his work with big names in the music industry such as Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Usher, Kanye West, and Demi Lovato. Currently worth a whopping $400 million, the Grammy-nominated businessman is also the co-founder of a comic-film studio called Mythos Studios and the co-founder of an e-sports team dubbed 100 Thieves.
Braun founded SB Projects, a full-service entertainment marketing company that is involved in record production, artist management, publishing, and songwriting. He has also invested in Uber, Spotify, and Editorialist through Ithaca Ventures, which recently acquired the independent music label Big Machine Label Group. Ithaca also has a first-look deal with Amazon Studios.
As the new owner of the two-story Spanish-style abode, Braun together with his wife, businesswoman Yael Cohen can now enjoy its screening room, gym, spa, dining patios, private study with a wet bar, and numerous fireplaces that features imported stone mantles.
Their three children—4-year-old Jagger Joseph, 3-year-old Levi Magnus, and 1-year-old Hart Violet — will surely be glad to see their new home’s massive swimming pool with a rock waterfall, treehouse, expansive tree-lined grass lawn, and tennis court. The compound is also equipped with its own guardhouse and two garages.
The sale of this piece of real estate doesn’t mean that Travolta’s real estate property list has shortened. In the fall of 2019, the 65-year-old actor bought a Mediterranean-style home in the neighboring Calabasas worth $2.65 million. The 7,500-square-foot California residence features 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms along with a fountain, palm trees, and terra-cotta tiles that beautify the exterior.
The Travoltas also have impressive homes in other locations in the United States. These include one in Maine and a unique mansion in a residential airpark in Florida. The aviation community boasts its own private runway.
If you haven’t heard, Travolta is actually an aviation enthusiast and has become a certified private pilot. His Florida estate, which also serves as his private hangar, is the perfect place to hold the five aircraft units he reportedly owns.
Travolta, who shot to worldwide stardom through his career-defining lead role in the 1978 classic movie Grease, has a rich acting portfolio that includes memorable films such as Saturday Night Fever, Pulp Fiction, and Hairspray. He recently starred in three films in 2019: Trading Paint, The Poison Rose, and The Fanatic.
